Somatic Singing

Singing is fully employing the instrument you were born with. In my view, all healthy singing is somatic singing, or a full-body experience.

Somatic singing utilizes immediately applicable, practical knowledge to achieve mind-body coherence—to feel truly at home in your own body. This acts as a catalyst in finding oneself, and even an individual's long-term recovery and healing journey.

My experience as a singer and voice teacher have taught me about the profound connection between vocal expression and personal empowerment. As a musician-turned-psychologist, I learned that somatic voice work is a gateway for people to access their subconscious, release emotional blockages, and foster resilience. It is a necessary, and yet often overlooked aspect of holistic mental health.

Much like EMDR, in voice work, changes and healing occur less from a cognitive standpoint, and more during the subconscious shifts inside the physical body as you engage practically in these modalities.

The integration of somatic practices—grounded in breath, movement, and voice—offers a powerful alternative to traditional therapeutic modalities. These practices directly address blockages held in the body and empowers you to reclaim agency over their life’s journey, connecting you more profoundly to your true self.
