Somatic Singing Workshop at Here & Now Studio
This is a dynamic introduction to somatic singing—perfect for those curious to explore the intersection of voice, body, and healing. Learn how to unblock your throat chakra to reconnect to the self.
Singing is fully employing the instrument you were born with. All healthy singing is somatic, or a full-body experience.
Somatic singing utilizes immediately applicable, practical knowledge to achieve mind-body coherence to feel truly at home in your own body. This acts as a catalyst in finding oneself, and even an individual's long-term recovery and healing journey.
Objectives:
Learn how singing is a somatic, full-body experience.
Use the breath to access presence and nervous system regulation.
Identify and release subtle vocal and physical tension patterns.
Feel the vibrational frequency of your own voice as a tool for healing.
Flow:
Welcome & Intentions - Opening circle, brief check-ins, grounding breath work, awakening the voice.
Voice as a Somatic Tool - Brief introduction to the nervous system, trauma, and the voice. Guided group vocal toning and sensing exercises.
Embodied Vocal Exercises - Somatic techniques for breath, resonance, and release. Use movement, touch, and gentle sound to unlock the voice.
Individual Spot-Coaching - Volunteers share a short phrase or sing, and receive mini somatic coaching. Observers learn by watching shifts.
Integration Circle - Guided reflection and group sharing
